August 2, 2010 Edition
Howdy folks!
The next Starfinder Opry at
Diamond Lake Resort in western
Daviess
County
on August 14th is jammed-pack with entertainment and entertainers
that we think that you are really going to enjoy – that is if you are planning
on being at the show. Travis Estes
is our featured headliner, and
Tara Estes
, who headlined our first show on May 8th, will be joining Travis on
some duets as well as performing some great songs on her own. A
first-timer to our show, Josh Helms,
is well-known in the
Owensboro
area for his Christian music, but he will be a featured vocalist on our August
14th show performing a couple of his original country songs. 13
year old Savana Poole from
Madisonville
who auditioned for us in May will complete our roster of guest vocalists.
Also on the show are our regular cast members,
Ray Jones
,
Donnie Wright
,
Eddie Rector
,
Randall Howard
, and
Roger Smith
who make up the Blue Diamond Band,
and
Donna Clark
and
Audra Green
as the Starlite Singers. Of
course, ventriloquist
Janie Jett-Mason
and her sidekick “Jerry” will be on hand to keep you in stitches, and our
world-class emcee
Goldie
Payne will keep the show moving
with her anecdotes, comedy, and songs. I don’t know how we can squeeze
so much entertainment into a two-hour show, but we will “get ‘er done”!
If you don’t already have your tickets for this show, you can make your
reservations by calling 270-344-4289
to order tickets. We suggest that you take a look at the seating
availability for this show at our web page http://starfinderopry.com/dl_seating_14Aug10.htm
and choose your preferred seats before calling. To insure that there will
be enough seating for those who may come to the show without first ordering
tickets, we have set aside rows X through FF as general admission seating which
will only be available for purchase on the evening of the show. Either
way, we have a seat for you, so come see us on Saturday, August 14th
and get a big dose of entertainment that will make you feel better regardless of
what ails you. Adult admission (13 to 84) is $12.72. Children 12 and
under are admitted free when accompanied by a parent or guardian, and super
seniors (85+) are also admitted free!
The Starfinder Opry is produced in the Good
Time Theater at Diamond Lake
Resort which is just 15 easy minutes from
Owensboro
. Just in case you have not been to Diamond Lake Resort, use Moonlite
Barbecue on West Parrish Avenue as your landmark and continue westward on
Parrish Avenue/KY Hwy 56 for about 11 miles to the community of West Louisville
and then follow the signs that will lead you right to the theater.
If you are coming to the show from the Evansville/Henderson area, we
suggest that you take the Audubon Parkway from Henderson toward Owensboro, but
exit at the Sorgho ramp (Exit 18) and keep right for a half mile until you come
to Hwy 56 where you will only be five miles away from Diamond Lake Resort.
Follow the directional signs, and you will soon be at the show.
You folks from the
Madisonville
area will probably want to take the Sebree/Owensboro exit on the
Pennyrile Parkway
where you will get on Hwy 56 going East. You will then go through Beech Grove,
Mount
Saint Joseph
, and then soon arrive at
West Louisville
where you will see the flashing marquee indicating where to turn for the
Starfinder Opry. It’s approximately 15 miles from the Sebree/Owensboro
exit on the parkway to Diamond Lake Resort.
Have you visited our web site http://starfinderopry.com/
lately? We are constantly making updates to the web site, so you never
know what you find you may find when you visit. One of our latest
additions is a video that we recently took of
Goldie
Payne,
Donna Clark
, Rosemary Lawson, and Toni
Garland singing “The Lighthouse” at the
First
Free
Will
Baptist
Church
in
Owensboro
. We are going to be adding many more videos to the web site as we process
them so check in with us frequently. You will also find a schedule of
future shows as well as seating charts for those shows as well as other
information, such as a map to Diamond Lake Resort!
Diamond
Lake
Resort is quickly becoming the entertainment headquarters for the tri-state
area. Not only does Diamond Lake Resort host the monthly Starfinder Opry,
you can usually find something going on at the resort almost every weekend.
The resort is the premier campground in the
Owensboro
area, but whether you are camping for a week or weekend or just want to get out
and have some fun or relax for the day, there’s something for everyone at
Diamond
Lake
. Like to fish? Bring your fishing pole and a lawn chair and your
favorite bait (or purchase bait at the campground grocery & grill) and get
in on the action in one of the pay lakes. The resort also features three
go-kart tracks with five styles of cars for those that like to get their
adrenaline pumping, and there’s even a paint ball course if you really want to
test your marksmanship and survival skills as the hunter and hunted. On
Friday, August 6, Brad McCrady
will be performing his One Night With
“Elvis” show for a Lions Club Charity Benefit in the Good Time
Theater. Show time is 7:30 p.m. and general admission tickets are $10.
Brad will also be a featured vocalist on the Starfinder Opry in September.
We have a link on our web site at http://StarfinderOpry.com
to Diamond Lake Resort’s web site, so be sure to check out all the events they
have in store for you.
Janie Jett-Mason
will be the headliner at the Kentucky Opry in Draffenville near Kentucky Lake
this coming Saturday night, August 7, and Janie is also hosting a bus group tour
to the show which will also include dinner at Patti’s 1812 Settlement in Grand
Rivers, KY. If you have been to Patti’s then you already know the food
and ambience is excellent, and if you have never been to Patti’s or the
Kentucky Opry then what are you waiting for? Give Janie a call at
270-929-2222 and make your reservation. The cost of the day trip is $89
which covers transportation, dinner and show. Pickups are offered at
Hartford/Beaver Dam,
Owensboro
,
Henderson
and
Madisonville
.
Do you tweet? Are you a
Facebook fanatic? If so, you can stay in touch with us and keep up to date
on what is happening at the Starfinder Opry. Our Twitter name is
StarfinderOpry so that’s easy enough, and if Facebook is your thing then you
will find us at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Owensboro-KY/Starfinder-Opry/117782058254747,
and of course you can always find us at http://StarfinderOpry.com.
Well, that should be enough for this edition of the
Starfinder Entertainment
E-letter. We do hope you come and see us at the Starfinder Opry on August
14th. We are working hard to put together a great show for you,
but the only way that you will know is to come and see for yourself.
Happy Trails,
Jim Mason
